Hartford is the capital of Connecticut and has some amazing history, with the first European settlers coming in the early 17th century. A great way to enjoy the city and summers is to have a lovely swim in the summer in your backyard! Yet there are some important things to remember before swimming in your private pool, such as laws that pertain to pool safety.
Most counties and cities in Connecticut look to state law in terms of pool signage and fencing, but it doesn’t hurt to double check with city and county laws to make sure you’re meeting all the requirements. That being said, Hartford will look to Connecticut’s laws regarding private pool fencing (there are no rules about signage for private pools). This includes having a fence or fence around the pool that is at least 4 feet tall with no more than 2 inches of space between the bottom of the fence and the ground.
There are also other special rules, such as if the fence is solid, it is not allowed to have any protrusions. Or if the fence has openings such as a chain link fence, the maximum size between the links can only be 2.25 inches. Any openings in the fence or fence cannot be larger than a sphere that is 4 inches in diameter. This is to help protect young children that may want to stick parts of their body through the fence, but would not be able to.
As you go through the state law, and check with city and county laws about pool safety and requirements, it may also be beneficial to look at different products that advocate pool safety. One of those products is the pool safety net from Katchakid. The safety net can hold over 485 pounds, so it is very strong and made from highly-durable material that is also high-density so that it creates the perfect amount of tension to hold a child in case they were to fall of the side of the pool. The net would cradle them in place until help came along to lift them out of the pool.
No child has ever drowned in a pool protected by a correctly installed Katchakid safety net. Our pool nets are reliable and durable, even in the most extreme conditions.
Hartford is a lovely place to live, so enjoy your experience as much as you can with ensuring both you and your family are protected by pool safety and adhering to pool safety laws. When it comes to pool safety, contact us today to learn more about our safety nets, pool fences and covers.
