Maine Pool Covers, Nets and Fences
Maine is the most northern state in the continental United States, and the most easterly, period. Not only that, the population of the state is at a low density, leaving more room for nature and natural explorations. Going for natural explorations in the summer in Maine is one of the blessings of the season. However, if you are more inclined to stay home because you own a private pool, that is also a fantastic summer activity. Yet when you own a pool, there are also more responsibilities to consider, and you may have to reflect on what the state law says about it.
In Maine, both private and public pools have a rule in common: they need to be enclosed by a pool fence (which needs to be at least 4 feet high) which also has a gate or a door with the ability to be securely closed and locked when it’s not in use. According to state law, it is permissible to have a wall of your home or dwelling as part of the barrier around the pool, although you will also need to install a couple of extra things, either an alarm for the door leading to the pool or a cover for the pool. However, if you happen to have an above-ground pool that has walls that are 2 feet or over, there is no need to have a barrier or a fence around it.
If you desire to comply with state law in with regards to your residential pool, but you don’t want to purchase a pool cover, there are alternatives available. We deliver quality pool safety products, with our most popular product being the pool safety net. The net is anchored and fitted by a professional technician, and then when you’re not using the pool, you can extend the net in order to protect little ones from falling into the pool when they’re outside. However, if a child is playing on the side of the pool, and they happen to fall in, our pool safety net will cradle them safely until an adult can assist them to get out from the net. The alternative circumstance without a safety net is much worse, so by purchasing the product you are investing in the safety of your family.
With incredibly cold winters in Maine, the heat of summer is a welcome reprieve. And swimming in your own pool can be the perfect way to enjoy a hot day. Just remember to check with your state and local regulations every once and awhile to keep up-to-date, and remember to invest in products that will ensure the safety of your whole family.
