New Hampshire Pool Covers, Safety Nets and Fences
New Hampshire Pool Covers,
Safety Nets and Fences
Winters in New Hampshire can be bitterly cold and snowy for most of the season and the welcome of summer is a wonderful change. What better thing to do then get in your pool and soak up as much sun as possible while cooling off in the process! However, before jumping in your pool, it’s important to reflect on some of the rules that apply to the state in regards to pool safety and regulation.
Although public pools require specific signage, there’s no specific signage required by private pools in New Hampshire. Yet private, residential pools do have to comply with other rules. Under state law, a swimming pool is a structure over 24 inches that is intended for recreational bathing or swimming, and this includes above-ground, in-ground, and on-ground swimming pools, hot tubs, and spas.
And if you have a residential swimming pool, it comes with certain fence requirements as well. The rules surrounding pool fence requirements are incredibly specific, as they are in place to prevent drownings or similar accidents that can occur with swimming pools. Generally speaking, the fence around the swimming pool needs to be 48 inches above ground level, with only two inches of space allowed at the bottom.
If you decide to put a fence around the pool, and you decide on a chain link fence, the chain link can be no bigger than 1.25 inches, which is smaller than the International Building Code. And if you decide to use a wall of your home as part of the fence to the swimming pool, you will also need to install in alarm on the door that leads to the pool. The deactivation switch for that alarm must be 54 inches above the ground (higher than what is in the International Building Code).
In this case you may want to consider a safety fence from Katchakid. Our fences are removable and specifically designed as a swimming pool fence to help protect children from exposed open water by adding a layer of protection around your swimming pool.
Along with a safety fence, you can also consider a pool safety net from Katchakid. Why a Katchakid Pool Safety Net?
