Katchaleaf Pool Cover: Installation & Care
How a Katchaleaf is fitted, taken off and put back on, and what keeps it working season after season.

Your Katchaleaf is custom-fitted in two stages. On the first visit the technician sets the anchors around the pool surround and fits and marks the cover for sewing; it then goes to our factory to be finished. On the second visit the completed cover is fitted, tensioned and handed over with a walkthrough of removal and refitting — your local team confirms the schedule between the two. From there, it is designed to be lived with. Here is how owners take it off, put it back on, and keep it in good condition for years.

Taking the Katchaleaf Off
- Always use your roller — it is designed so the cover comes off, and goes back on, in the right order.
- Clip the roller to its anchor (middle of one side of the pool, set farther back), with the square funnel facing the cover.
- Pull the carabiner through the funnel and clip it to the cover’s free eyelet.
- Note where the Start Tag anchor sits across the pool, then unclip all the fasteners with the EZ-Clip tool.
- Turn the crank slowly — the cover feeds through the funnel onto the roller, with the Start Tag section rolled last.
- Unclip the roller and move it clear of the pool.
- Store the rolled cover out of direct sun, away from heat and anywhere pets or pests could reach it.
Putting It Back On
- Clip the roller to its anchor with the Start Tag facing the water.
- Pull the Start Tag forward through the funnel and fasten it in its anchor first.
- Pull the remaining material off the roller, then fasten the corners of the pool with the EZ-Clip tool.
- Work outward from each corner until every fastener is home.
- If the final section is holding water, give it ten minutes to drip through the mesh before fastening.
- Position any floats before the last fasteners go on, then unclip the roller and set it aside.
On an average-sized pool, removal typically takes about 5 minutes and replacement about 8 — one person, no tools beyond the EZ-Clip.
Living With Your Katchaleaf
When properly anchored, the Katchaleaf does not interfere with most standard underwater pool cleaning equipment. Adding chemicals only needs a small section of the cover pulled back — not the whole cover off. It helps to make sure your pool service provider knows the cover is there and how it works. One caution for deck cleaning: strong acid cleaners can damage or tarnish the hardware, so low-acid solutions are the safer choice.
Care and Storage
Clean the cover by gently brushing it off or using a blower. In season, store it in a shaded spot. For long-term storage, remove any debris and keep it indoors at room temperature — away from chemicals, heat sources and direct sunlight, which can burn or misshape the fabric. Taking it off the roller and hanging it above the ground keeps it clear of rodents and other pests that may nest in the material. If You Also Own a Katchakid Safety Net
Many households run both — the net as the barrier, the Katchaleaf for debris. A few house rules keep the pairing simple: with two anchor rows you get two rollers, one for each product, and the Katchaleaf always takes the exterior row. Where safety is a concern, the net is secured first and the cover goes over it. Store the two separately. On single-row installations there is one roller, for the net; the Katchaleaf clips to loops on the installed net and is folded into its storage bag when it comes off.
When used by itself, the Katchaleaf is not a safety product.
The Katchaleaf is a leaf and debris cover, not a safety product, and should never be used as one. Always remove it completely before swimming — a partially covered pool is a hazard — and nothing replaces close, constant adult supervision.
