Katchakid Pool Safety Net – Fittings and Components
Fine Materials and Meticulous Manufacturing Processes Make All The Difference.
The pool netting is manufactured from durable four-millimeter high-density, polyethylene fiber composed of linear macromolecules saturated with non-substituted aliphatic hydrocarbons. This material contains continuous multifilament and resists abrasion, moths, and bacteria.
The pool netting is subject to exacting quality control procedures. The net is stretched, and heat-set to give regular and stable mesh sizes. These processes guarantee the Katchakid’s performance through the uniformity of mesh size and knot tightness.
Chemically treated with laboratory developed maximum UV stabilized inhibitors, the Katchakid is resistant to fading, deterioration or shrinkage when subjected to harsh climatic conditions. This material is also resilient to pool acid, pool chemicals and does not hold or absorb water.
Unlike any other pool netting cover, the Katchakid has a unique diamond slimline design. The pool netting mesh, when fully secured, is square. However, the material resumes its original diamond form shape when the tension is released. This diamond construction ensures a smooth, streamlined flow that reels up evenly and smoothly over the EZ-Roller.
The pool netting is available in three color options: Ocean Blue, Jet Black, and Desert Sand.
Katchakid Central Tension System
Katchakid’s CEO, Blair Esson, pioneered and patented the initial Central Tensioning System (CTS) in 1988. Today, the CTS is a multifaceted system that uses a series of pulleys set in a circular fashion to open and close the tension ring of the net. The net can be adjusted from tight to very tight and the CTS is designed in such a way that most children under 12 years of age cannot remove it.
The Katchakid uses an average of 12 to 16 pulleys per net. A larger pool, such as those over 42 feet long, or those with more than one clearly defined “middle,” usually require two or more CTS systems. The central tensioning system facilitates the Katchakid to be removed, replaced and tightened with relative ease.
Katchakid’s Pulleys
Over the past 50 years Katchakid has experimented with many different types of pulleys and CTS pulley configurations. We have determined that the best pulleys for a pool net are constructed from durable high-grade nylon. Our nylon pulleys are exceptionally strong and buoyant, this is an important safety factor in maintaining the correct level of tension.
Katchakid’s Fasteners
The Katchakid’s tangle-free fasteners are precision engineered
from high-grade, rust-free stainless steel.
Katchakid Anchors
The Katchakid pool netting cover is secured to the swimming pool’s perimeter by attaching fasteners into a series of anchors. These anchors are placed approximately 30 inches apart around the pool’s border, and on average, 10 inches back from the water’s edge. With a diamond-tipped core drill, a small three-quarter inch hole is made into the pool’s surrounding surface, and the countersunk anchor is inserted. Custom anchors are available for above ground pools, woods decks, ponds, and rockeries.
Anchor Options
Nylon Anchors
Countersunk, durable high-density nylon anchors are available in Cream, Gray or Terracotta; color-coordinated to match pool decking.
Brass Anchors
pool safety net anchorsAt the top of the Katchakid anchor range is our high-quality brass anchor. Over time, or when acid washed, our deck-flush brass anchor pairs well with materials such as flagstone, concrete, and pebble. With the brass anchors patina established, it becomes barely perceptible in the pool deck.
Hand Tensioner
Advantages
- Lightweight
- Quick & convenient
- Faster line speeds
- Easy to use and store
EZ-Off Roller
EZ-Close Tensioner
Available as an upgrade to the Katchakid pool netting cover system is the EZ-Close Tensioner. Stream-lined engineering makes the job of tightening the pool net smooth and straightforward, requiring far less strength and effort. A stamped carbon steel frame houses efficient gear ratios, full-length drum bearings, and an oil-impregnated shaft bushing. This unit offers superb strength, long term durability, and pulls at 900lbs.
Advantages
- Requires far less space to operate
- Minimal strain to tighten or release your Central Tensioning System
- No pulling or tugging
- Compact and aesthetically pleasing
