Learn Pool Safely!
This week CPSC’s Pool Safely initiative, our partner in drowning prevention, released a new song! Four Simple Steps by children’s musical artist Laurie Berkner. Music has long been a proven effective medium for teaching valuable lessons, most of us will have learnt our alphabet from singing the simple ABC’s song.
The Four Simple Steps song focuses on for four important messages:
1. Learn To Swim
2. Don’t Go Climbing Over The Gate
3. See A Drain? Stay Away
4. Ask A Grownup To Swim In A Pool
Repetitively singing this upbeat, catchy song with your children will positively reinforce these four very important actions helping to keep your children safe around a swimming pool.
Lyric’s
Four simple steps – four simple steps
That’s all it takes – that’s all it takes
Four simple steps – four simple steps
To keep me safe – to keep me safe
When I take four simple steps
I know how to pool safely
I know how to pool safely
Ready, set, here we go…
Learn to swim – cos swimming’s great
But don’t go climbing – over the gate
When you see a drain – stay away
And ask a grown up if it’s okay to – swim in a pool- safely
Swim in a pool – cos being safe is cool
Swim in the pool – safely
I know how to pool safely
I know how to pool safely
Four simple steps – four simple steps
That’s all it takes – that’s all it takes
Four simple steps – four simple steps
To keep me safe – to keep me safe
When I take four simple steps
I know how to pool safely
I know how to pool safely
Ready, set, let’s do it again -and this time do it with all our friends
Learn to swim – cos swimming’s great
But don’t go climbing – over the gate
When you see a drain – stay away
And ask a grown up if it’s okay to – swim in a pool- safely
Swim in a pool – cos being safe is cool
Swim in the pool – safely
I know how to pool safely
I know how to pool safely
Four simple steps
One golden rule – when you’re at the pool, pool safely
