Is a Katchaleaf a Safety Cover?
No — and the distinction matters, because “pool cover” is used loosely in the industry to mean two very different things.
A safety cover is built and tested to hold weight, to the ASTM F1346 standard. A debris cover is built to keep the water clean. The Katchaleaf is a debris cover. It is a fine mesh designed to stop leaves, not to stop a child.

Most orders are for medium and larger pools. Smaller pools and spas are often quick enough to clear by hand, so a cover earns its keep less often at that size.

It keeps out leaves, twigs, pine needles, seed pods and bugs. The mesh is open enough that rainwater drains straight through rather than pooling on top, so you are not left with standing water to pump off.
Covers are custom-shaped to the pool, so most shapes can be accommodated, including freeform pools and pools with steps or benches. We measure at the site visit.
On an average-sized pool, a Katchaleaf is slightly quicker to handle than a pool safety net — there is no tension to set on a debris cover. For comparison, a net takes around 5 minutes to remove and 8 minutes to replace on an average-sized pool. Times vary with the size and shape of the pool and the number of fixing points.
Rinse it down at the end of the season to clear the fine silt that works into the mesh, and let it dry fully. Check the fixings each time you put it back on.
To store it, roll it onto the roller we supply or fold it into a bag. Keep it somewhere dry and off the ground — hung from a garage rafter is ideal, and a bungee cord will hold it there.
Two things to keep it away from. Heat, because the mesh is a polyethylene and a spot beside a pool heater or boiler will shorten its life. And, as with any outdoor fabric, anywhere animals might nest — which is why off the ground and enclosed beats a shed floor or an open corner.
